Five on a Friday 2.1.19

Happy Friday! This week was going great and then I had to pick up Sadie from school Thursday morning because she had a fever. Sigh. She has been SO SICK this fall and winter it’s insane. Luckily we don’t have many plans for this weekend so we can relax and recoup.

Here’s my Five on a Friday!

{One}

So we hit up the Trolls the Experience last Sunday and it was so much fun! We had a great group of families from Sadie’s school that went at the same time and afterwards we hung out in the city with one of Sadie’s friends. It was a great time but I was SO TIRED when we finally made it home!

Three days this week Sadie woke me up one minute before my alarm or five minutes before my alarm. Why? WHY???? It is the WORST feeling. And it was for dumb reasons too. She can’t fully tell time yet but she knows if her clock starts with the number six then she can go downstairs. The days where she woke me up a minute before my alarm? She was asking if she could go downstairs – she FORGOT to look at her clock. Facepalm. Why do kids do that?

I can’t wait until she’s a teenager and I can wake her up when she’s not ready!!!

As part of my yearly goals, I wanted to cook once a week to help Dave out since he does most of the cooking around here. So far it’s been going great! This week I made a Crockpot Roasting Chicken (which was delicious). When we were cleaning up Dave asked if he should throw out the chicken carcass and I thought hmm… I’ve never made my own chicken stock before! One quick Google and I found a recipe that was for both the chicken stock AND chicken soup!

The recipe is from Baking Mischief, and she calls it Chicken Carcass Soup but that kinda grosses me out haha so I’ll just call it Chicken Noodle Soup. You could just make the chicken stock and stop there but since I was home with Sadie I made the soup too and it was DELICIOUS. Next time I’d cut out some of the oregano and keep the dill I added (I LOVE dill) but it’s a total winner.

Every so often Facebook delivers some gems and this one had me rolling! You gotta love the internet! (Click through – it’s so worth it!)

A guy shares a painting his mom made. Then another guy shares a painting he made of the guy’s mom holding her painting, and then someone else shares a painting they made of the guy holding his painting of the mom’s painting and on and on and on. It’s great!

And also, a PSA:

I’ve been keeping up with blogging (please don’t let me just have jinxed myself!) and this week in case you missed it I blogged about:

  5. That soup looks sooo good! I’ll have to bookmark both of those recipes, Erik does a lot of the cooking so I’m always looking for easy recipes for me to make.

    • I say they’re both super easy ones to do! And you could crab a rotisserie chicken from the supermarket one night for dinner and use that carcass for the soup!

  6. that troll adventure place looks like it was a lot of fun. Hope Sadie is feeling better. I, too, got a kick out of the painting thread. The first painting was very good!

  7. Pool noodles?! Why is this not common knowledge, it’s amazing! That thread of everyone “painting it forward” is also amazing!

  8. The Trolls thing is so cool! Love all those fun pictures.

Also, I joke on the regular that I can’t wait to wake my kids up at insane hours or just ridiculously early, because sweet mercy! SLEEP KIDS, SLEEP IN.

    • Hahahaha!! I can’t complain too much – usually she wakes up and goes downstairs on her own to watch TV or something and doesn’t bother us. But this last week was like, REALLY?!?!?!

  9. The goats with the pool noodles are too funny. My girls would have loved the trolls experience.
