Five on a Friday 12.28.18

Happy Friday!! I hope everyone had a fantastic Christmas, whether you were celebrating or just enjoying a day off from work. ๐Ÿ™‚ We’re heading up to Dave’s sister’s for a 2nd Christmas this weekend but before we go here’s my Five on a Friday.

Dave and I had a fantastic getaway last weekend. We went up to the New Paltz area and really got to enjoy each other’s company without any distractions. We spent Sunday just wandering around the town, taking in the sights and doing some last minute Christmas shopping.

We’ve been to New Paltz before and love the town! We actually spent our first dating anniversary there and it was so nice to literally wander down memory lane!

New Paltz is very artsy and I loved all of the street art and sculptures scattered around! I love graffiti art, and especially love when there’s a meaningful message with it.

Christmas Eve was spent making a last minute supermarket and liquor store run and heading to our friend’s house to celebrate with them. We made sure to leave out milk and cookies for Santa and a carrot for the reindeer before we left – we knew Sadie would be sleepy when we got home.

She also sprinkled reindeer oats outside so the reindeer would know where to land.

Sadie was sad that her elf Apple was leaving, so she asked if she could stay to watch her open presents. She did this last year too, but this year she wrote a note on her own and put it in our Santa mailbox. I adore how she spelled Christmas!

Christmas Day was nice and relaxing. We opened presents and ate our traditional Christmas Day Crock Pot Cinnamon Roll Casserole. Dave’s mom came over in the afternoon and we played with some of the new games Sadie got for Christmas! She got Yeti in My Spaghetti from us and Headbandz from Dave’s mom – so much fun!

See Apple sitting in the tree? She’s got her travel clothes on and she’s ready to head on home after watching Sadie open presents!

Not Christmas related, but I love seeing how Sadie’s writing and reading is improving this year. She gets extra help in class with reading and even since September I can see such improvement. She wrote this note on her own for her door and I couldn’t help but laugh!

If you can’t decipher – it says, “Sadie only. Parents at bedtime and in the morning.”

(Oh man, it’s starting already!)
