Smorgasburg and Street Art in Brooklyn

Living and working on Long Island gives me little reason to visit the five boroughs unless it’s to visit family in Queens or The Bronx. And that’s sad because there is so much to see and do! Recently I headed out to Brooklyn to meet Arielle and have a girls day. I’ve known this girl since we were five (yes, five!) and I don’t get to see her nearly often enough. I didn’t get to take a photo of us together when we hung out, but imagine it looking something like this:

We strive for utmost attractiveness.

We planned to meet up at Smorgasburg, getting there right when it opened. I HIGHLY suggest doing this. There was a line to get in, but right at 11am when Smorgasburg officially opened it moved fast and then the lot was empty of people to be able to hit some food booths right away!

I snagged a coffee while waiting for Arielle and then we hit up the vendors! Check out this Raindrop Cake! It’s an Asian jelly dessert and is a huge Instagram trend right now. We thought it was yummy, but nothing crazy.

Arielle really wanted to try a Ramen Burger, so we ran to that stand before there was a crazy line, because people were already lining up for it!

Then we ate, ate and ate some more!

Soon we went for a walk around Brooklyn and I played tourist, snapping away with my camera! I LOVE street art and (good) graffiti and couldn’t help but take a photo on almost every street we walked down!

I seriously could have walked around all day taking photos. I even love the buildings! Check out this exterior. The red brick, the uniformity…

My feet started to hurt (fake Birkenstocks!) and we were getting hungry again so we headed back to Smorgasburg. People – that sh*t was CROWDED. Like, the lot was absolutely mobbed and some of the lines for food were insane. Ugh. I am so glad we got there early because if I would have shown up for that I am not sure I would have stayed!

We picked out a couple of things we wanted to try, like the potato tornado!

And something I’ve been wanting to try for forever – rolled ice cream!

It was so good!!! Smorgasburg runs through October and hopefully, I’ll hit up the Prospect Park location soon (I’ve only been to Williamsburg.) Maybe it’ll be less crowded.

  1. Oh man the art, the food… SO much fun. Now I want a ramen burger… and ice cream… and a donut. Don’t ask where that one came from.
