Random Bits of Life

I’m not a blogger that recaps every weekend (often times we’re just too boring haha) or everything we do (because we’re not that interesting) but I wanted to share some stuff that has been going on in a sort of random bits of life post.

I’ve been working out again! (Woo!) I finally mustered up the motivation and have been running again – retraining myself on Couch to 5k. We tried doing the 21 Day Fix again but failed after barely a week. The running has been good so far and I am not putting pressure on myself – just to keep with the program and not beat myself up if I don’t hit all the intervals (have to walk.)

I signed up for a Super Hero Run 5k with my cousin in September and just signed up for the Hot Cider Hustle in October. Woo!

I also started going to Pure Barre! I wanted to try a class on my birthday weekend but didn’t get to, and then wasn’t able to go with work travel and our family vacation. I finally went and I love it! I did the first week free and then signed up for a 10 class package. Honestly, it’s on the pricier side of things (for me), but I really enjoy the class. I like that it’s not a high impact workout and that it focuses on problem areas for women. It’s 55 minutes and goes by so fast! And you don’t have to buy anything besides the class – the materials that you need (mat, weights, etc) are provided by the studio.

Up Early for Barre | Perks of Being a JAP | www.perksofbeingajap.comI actually got up early and went!!

Up Early for Barre | Perks of Being a JAP | www.perksofbeingajap.comSeriously – so proud of myself for getting up (twice now!) for a 5:45am class.

I feel great after each class, just tired/sweaty enough, not out of breath and the next days my muscles ache in all the right places. 🙂 Shaking means working!

I can’t remember if I mentioned it here but Sadie learned to ride a two-wheeler this summer! Dave decided to take her training wheels off (I would have thought it was too early) and he taught her how to ride without them Now she’s a pro! She upgraded to a new bike (Barbie is her newest obsession) and has been getting better and better with each ride. The other night we biked to Carvel for some evening ice cream – it was just under a mile each way!

I’ve also surprised myself and started Christmas/Hanukkah shopping already! It’s all thanks to the deal blogs and Facebook groups I belong to – I snagged some toys off of a Target clearance sale, and then Amazon had some great stuff too. I am close to being done for Sadie! I never shop this early, but I’m happy to have a head start on it and also spread out the credit card bills!

  1. Yay for getting back into running and doing the 5k! And getting up early for a gym class. It’s all about routine and consistency!

I am also super-impressed that you started Christmas shopping already. Damn, lady, that’s early… but hey, when the deals shop up, you better get on them 🙂

  2. That’s great that you’re running again and going to barre class. I would never be able to get up that early! Simon also learned to ride a 2 wheeler this summer and family bike rides are so much fun! I love carvel. We don’t have it out here. 🙁

    • I definitely don’t get up early that often, but when I am able to it feels great. And congrats to Simon! I didn’t learn until I was 9 so I give them so much credit!

  3. Great job on getting back into running. I have been back for a few months and it has been nice, but now I need to do more with strength training/weights. I plan on starting that next week on the days that I am not running!
