August/September Stitch Fix Reveal

June/July Stitch Fix Reveal | Perks of Being a JAP | www.perksofbeingajap.com

Once again it’s Stitch Fix reveal time!

I totally flaked on posting my August Stitch Fix reveal in a timely manner and now it’s almost October and I just had my September fix too so this is a combined post of the two months!! Phew, run on sentence. 😉

First up – AUGUST:

This fix was a home run. I kept all five items but actually wound up reselling two that I liked but wasn’t super enamored with through a Stitch Fix Facebook group.

Pixley Greenich Striped Knit Top – You had me at stripes and elbow patches. I LOVE this top. It threw me off at first that the knit is navy and the patches are black (harking back to a weird summer camp edict that navy and black didn’t go) but it was just too comfortable and too cute for me to really hold that against the top in the end. I also love that the sleeves are long because pulling sleeves over my hands is a total thing. Kept.

Gentle Fawn Corten Cut Out Back Top – I really liked the pattern of this top and the back detail. However for me (maybe because I’m bigger chested) I felt like the back didn’t really lay right (ie you could see my bra straps.) The sleeves were also a bit longer than I’d normally like. The top had a great surprise moment because it was so modest in the front and then BAM – cut out in the back. I kept the top originally because the bra strap issue only bothered me a little but in the end, I sold it on the Facebook group. Kept, but resold.

Laila Jayde Suri Knit Top – I looooooooove this top! (Ignore the wrinkles. I have a bad habit of opening my fix and then letting it sit around in the box until I can get to photograph everything.) It’s super long, which I adore (and longer in the back!) The color is SPOT ON and it’s so mother effing comfortable I can’t deal. I do have little concern that it may start to pill but I’m trying to be super careful when I wash it. Kept.

Rune Glynn Faux Leather Detail Moto Legging – I had been begging – I mean BEGGING my stylist Liz for a fun pair of leggings, including but not limited to a pair with leather detailing! She delivered in August! These leggings are HOT. And also super stretchy/comfortable! Kept.

Market & Spruce Colobri Plaid Printed Tab-Sleeve Shirt | August Stitch Fix Reveal | Perks of Being a JAP | www.perksofbeingajap.com | http://stitchfix.com/referral/3018382

Market & Spruce Colibri Plaid Printed Tab-Sleeve Shirt – I am a big sucker for a good, plaid shirt. However, I’m just not a fan of this kind of collar. What is it called? I refer to it as a mandarin collar but I’m not 100% sure that’s correct. I loved the blues and reds in the top and it was very cozy but when I peeked on the Facebook group and saw someone already looking for it I decided to keep it for the 25% discount and try to resell it.  Kept, but resold.

Now onto SEPTEMBER:

I’ll preface that I did not keep a single piece from this fix… and that hasn’t happened since I started working with Liz as my stylist! BUT I didn’t keep anything not because they weren’t for me, but because many of the pieces were too similar to things I already had in my closet! So clearly Liz knows my style!

Pistola Audrey Moto Detail Skinny Pant – These jeans were great. I love the moto detailing and they fit perfectly. The faded purplish color is on trend (so I’m told by Liz!) and overall they were a great pant but I just couldn’t see how I would fit that color into my wardrobe as a staple. Returned.

Skies are Blue Renny Two Pocket Top | September Stitch Fix Reveal | Perks of Being a JAP | www.perksofbeingajap.com | http://stitchfix.com/referral/3018382 Skies are Blue Renny Two Pocket Top | September Stitch Fix Reveal | Perks of Being a JAP | www.perksofbeingajap.com | http://stitchfix.com/referral/3018382

Skies are Blue Renny Two Pocket Top – Ughhh guys. I was SO close to keeping this top! Like I mentioned with my August fix I am a sucker for a good plaid shirt and this one fit the bill. I loved everything about it from the colors to the plaid print to how it fit… and even the contrast detailing at the neckline. But… I have a similar red plaid shirt so I couldn’t justify keeping this one too. SO SAD. Returned.

41Hawthorn Donovan Knit Dress – Even though my work environment is super casual I still need good dresses and other pieces for event days. This dress by 41Hawthorn would have totally fit the bill! BUT I wasn’t crazy about the cap sleeves. The way they were cut was almost too severe and you could see a part of my bra from the side. No bueno. I also just purchased a navy blue dress for work from Lulu’s that was too similar so even if I got over the cap sleeve issue I wouldn’t have kept it. Returned.

41Hawthorn Sena Bar Back Blouse – Ok first of all you can really see how dirty my mirror is in this photo so my apologies. Second – I have to admit I didn’t have any excitement about this top when I first saw it in my fix but when I styled it like Liz suggested I did enjoy how it looked on. However, I am a major dodo and in my rush to take photos (also in horrible lighting) I didn’t even remember to look at the back or photograph the back to see how that looked. Derf. While the top was pretty, I tend to wear more dresses at events and would prefer a pop of color in a top than a basic black like this. Returned.

Ink Love & Peace Calyn Cowl Neck Knit Top – Two words guys – THUMB HOLES. Why do thumb holes make any top better? I swear it’s like pockets in a dress. This casual top is a dream piece for me for flights. I dress super comfortable for travel and this would be a staple. BUT I just bought an insanely similar sweatshirt from Old Navy – thumb holes and all! I did love how this top was longer in the back but it wasn’t enough of a reason for me to keep it. Even though I also adored the pockets!! Returned.

  1. You have the best stylist ever and I’m so jealous! I would have been tempted to keep everything in your September fix too! Everything looked great in you!

    • I loooooooooooove Liz! When she read my post back in like January about my awful fix and said I should request her I was so excited! (She’s an ex blogger.)

  2. I love that Suri knit top! I’ve been living in leggings lately, and have been searching for great tops with a bit more length/coverage. Sadly, a lot of them (for me) get wide and though they’re the right length just look big on me and ugh. I wish StitchFix would come out with a subscription more suited to broke grad students — because I could use a personal stylist right now.

  3. I think if I hit my first big weight loss goal (which will necessitate new clothing I figure) then hopefully it’ll be in sizes I can use Stitch Fix for! Such cute clothing and not having to do the actual shopping makes me happy.

Also, more shirts need thumb holes. I just cut some in a hoodie just the other day.

  4. I looooooove those leggings!

  5. Love this review! I agree with what you kept and sold… I need to get into a Stitch Fix resale group for the things that I end up keeping but then not KEEPING. Ya know?

    • Thanks! I am glad I was able to resell those two tops but I find the resale groups a bit stressful! It’s like, only 20% off if all items sell, and then unless you’ve already decided to keep them, you need to make sure they sell in time for the return ship date! STRESS!

  6. Black + navy = blavy…it’s a thing…one that I have a hard time wearing. We must have gone to the same summer camp. Ha!

  7. I love the things you kept. I like the plaid shirts too!

    • I liked the plaid too (more the 2nd one than the 1st) but just too similar to things I already own! If they would have been in a different color it probably would have been a keeper!
