Sunday Lately #69

This is a bit of a melancholy Sunday Lately… sorry in advance for that. I feel like these are usually upbeat recaps of my week or the week ahead but I’ve been thrown for a loop – you’ll see below.

Sunday Lately with Blogger Tribe

As usual I’m hooking up with the Blogger Tribe for their weekly Sunday Lately linkup. Care to join? Each week you get a bunch of prompts – it kind of vibes with those “Currently” posts. So here goes! This week’s words are:

Updating, Remembering, Needing, Wearing, Being

Updating – My list for Sadie’s birthday party. We ordered the cake yesterday, bought candles (because last year I thought I had some in the house and definitely did NOT), etc.

Remembering – My friend John. I found out yesterday that he passed away this past week – unfortunately he took his own life. I’m still in shock.

Needing – To clean the house. Laundry is piling up and the house looks like a friggen wreck. Neither Dave or myself are naturally tidy people but I do feel better on a daily basis if my house isn’t a war zone. Trying to work on that.

Wearing – Shorts. Well inside the house at least. And realizing that some of my shorts from last summer do not fit. I really need to get back on the diet bandwagon again.

Being – Sad. I keep thinking about John. I think the worst was this morning when I woke up and thought it had all been a bad dream… and then realized it wasn’t.

Miss you friend…

  1. I’m so sorry to hear about your friend. I lost 3 friends to suicide in the past too.

  2. I’m so sorry to hear of your friend’s death. Loss is so hard to manage – but loss to suicide is a special kind of difficult. Sending you love.

    • Thanks Kate – I know you of all people understand. I definitely think one of the worst parts are those moments when your mind forgets… and then the crushing realization as it all comes back to you. Sigh. <3

  3. I’m sorry to hear about your friend. Loss is so hard. I’m glad you mentioned birthday candles tho; Target was out of pink 7s yesterday and I *need* to remember to try another store! Best wishes for a great week!

  4. Oh honey, I’m so sorry to hear about John. Suicide has so much hurt and heartache surrounding it, both for the person who thinks it’s the only option and for those left behind. Hugs.
