Favorite Things of Mine

I love hearing about things that other people/bloggers are loving at the moment. Part of it is the hunt for the next coolest thing that will make my life infinitely better and the other part is that I’m just plain nosy. 🙂

I am way too materialistic for my own good so I figured I’d do my own list of things I’ve been loving recently!

Favorite Things - Volume 1 | Perks of Being a JAP | www.perksofbeingajap.com

1. Sole Society Mason Travel Satchel – I always struggle with my carry on bags when traveling. It’s either disorganized, or not big enough, or the bag hurts my shoulders, etc. I saw this Weekender bag online and was intrigued by the bottom compartment. It is meant for shoes but I decided to use it as storage for my laptop. I used it for the first time on this last work trip and it worked great! Full review to come.

2. Parks and Recreation – I seem to always be late to the party with getting into TV shows but that’s remedied by being able to binge watch the entire series instead of having to wait for the new episodes to come out. I got into Parks and Rec after reading Yes Please. I was never into it while it was on – I thought it would be too much like The Office but now I’m HOOKED. The first season was a little touch but I think it totally picked up and became a much smarter show after that.

3. Trader Joe’s Partially Popped Popcorn – Holy shit you guys. This stuff is amazing. I am that person who seeks out the partially popped kernels in a bag of popcorn and this is AN ENTIRE BAG OF THE STUFF. I do wish it came in an un-buttered variety, but I buy bags of this stuff because I go through it so quickly.

4. Nexcare Acne Absorbing Covers – I saw this on Renee’s beauty Instagram (Hi Renee!) and am mad at myself that I took so long to buy it because these are AMAZING. If you have a blemish (welcome to my life ALL THE TIME), clean your face, dry it and put a patch on. I try to put them on before I go to bed so I have them on all night and then when you wake up you see white stuff in the center of the patch (gross/awesome) which is the oils pulled out of your pimple. And when you take the patch off the blemish is visibly reduced. I want to stock up on these bad boys I’m so afraid Nexcare will stop making them for some reason.

5. Simple Micellar Cleansing Water – After watching a bunch of beauty YouTubers talk about micellar water I bought some to try out for myself. I was using the Target brand makeup remove wipes but my skin was so dry immediately after use. I always had to apply lotion to my face after taking my makeup off. Now that I use micellar water to remove my makeup I’m a convert! 1 – it doesn’t dry out my skin and 2 – it doesn’t burn my eyes when I remove my eye makeup. I’ve heard that not every brand is the same in terms of their micellar water so I think I’ll stick to Simple for now, but I know Garnier and a couple of other brands have their own version too.

6. Ofra Universal Eyebrow Pencil  – I was purchasing some stuff from Ofra and this product came up. I was pretty intrigued because how could an eyebrow pencil be universal? I mean everyone’s eyebrows are different colors right? Well who the eff knows because this stuff blends in with my color flawlessly and I love it. I had bought a chubby eyebrow pencil from Nyx previously but it was super hard to keep sharpened and this one is much better.

7. Sephora Honey Face Mask – In a big Sephora order a few weeks ago I picked up a honey sheet mask from the Sephora brand. This one promises that it “nourishes and balances to soothe and refresh dry or sensitive skin” so I was eager to try it as my skin has been pretty dry recently. I loved this mask. My skin felt so dewy and refreshed for hours after I had used it. I will definitely repurchase.

Now tell me your favorites!! Food, beauty, entertainment, productivity? I want to know them all!

  1. Ooh, I’ve been looking for a good face mask after the one I bought BURNED THE CRAP OUT OF MY SKIN. I’ll have to check out this one!

    • Get it – it’s also cheap (well, for a one time use sheet mask.) I loved it. Some of the masks pull all of the moisture out of my skin but this was the first I found that did the exact opposite. I also just picked up the green tea version for under eyes – hopefully get rid of some of my puffiness.

  2. I’m also a Simple micellar water convert, that stuff is magic!

  3. Can’t wait for your review of the bag. It sounds wonderful and carry bags are so hard to find.
