6 months old!!

Dear Sadie,

Holy crap, I have a six month old. When did that happen?? How have you been in our lives for half a year already?

Weight/Length- At your six month check in, you weighed 14 pounds and were 26 1/4 inches tall. Tall and skinny is your motto girl! Everyone still comments how small you are, but you’ve got some rolls hidden in there – somehow you are skinny, but chunky.

Eating- We’ve started giving you some real food in order to start Baby Lead Weaning soon, and you liked everything except for avocado. You drink anywhere from 6-80z at a time now… but I don’t know where it goes! You’ve begun to bring food to your mouth on your own, like puffs, carrot sticks, and most recently you enjoyed some chips.

Sleep- Mommy and Daddy would really appreciate it if you could make your wake up time just a littttle later. Like, 7am? Most days you’re up between 5:30-6:30, and like the mean parents we are, we usually let you hang out in your crib, babbling away to yourself until you get upset and start crying. You nap so well at daycare, about 3-4 times a day, but with us on the weekends, we’re lucky to get one good nap out of you. Generally we’re on the go, so you nap in the car a lot. Thank goodness you don’t mind the car!

Clothes- Skinny minny! You can still rock a 3-month onesie, but your sleepsuits and pants need to be 6-month size, otherwise they’re too short for your long, long legs! There’s even some 9-month pants you fit into, but only for the length. I’ll keep squeezing you into the 3-month onesies until you are bursting out through – might as well get as much wear out of them as possible!

Appearance- I know parents are supposed to think that their kids are good looking, but baby girl, we get STOPPED on the street with you. People can’t help but tell us that you’re so pretty, or beautiful, or they coo at you. It’s going to give you a big head! (Kind of gives me a big head, I mean, I’m 50% responsible for creating you!) Your eyes stay a dark blue, and your hair is getting blonder by the day.

Personality- The other comment we get all the time is about how good you are, and continue to be. Everyone adores being around you – you still only cry when you are upset bout something, or when you face-plant on the floor while playing/crawling/etc. And even then it’s for a short amount of time. You’re super laid back, which goes great with our lifestyle, and you’re just getting into that stage of being into EVERYTHING. Mommy and Daddy have to learn to stop leaving things on the floor, or within your reach! You also want to eat ALL OF THE THINGS. We joke that you “must taste it“, whenever you go to put something in your mouth. A toy, our hands, your hands, something you’re not supposed to have. The list goes on and on.

Milestones- Two big ones! You started to crawl! I KNOW. You had been hanging out on your hands and knees for awhile now, and then hurricane weekend you went for it. You aren’t super fast, and it’s not constant, but if you want something bad enough, you can get there. You also just learned how to pull yourself up onto things. You started doing it at daycare, and now you want to pull yourself up onto everything. Apparently you’re hitting these milestones early – you must get this advanced nature from your Dad.

Likes- crawling, standing, putting everything in your mouth all of the time, any food with bananas, puffs, chips, the jumperoo, twirling/tugging your hair when you have your bottle, Daddy’s eyebrow ring, Mommy’s hair, all of your toys, blowing raspberries, babbling.

Dislikes- Laying still to have your diaper changed, being put down for bed when you don’t want to be in there, being left alone, avocado, face-planting (who wouldn’t), your cell phone toy (I think it frustrates you), baths (you are usually ambivalent, but when I took the little seat our of your tub and had you sit on your own, you were not a fan).

Nicknames- Sadie Faye, Lil’ Girl, Lovey-Boo, Monkey Face, Skutchy, Princess – I swear these change every month!
