Dear Sadie,
I can’t believe it, but you’re five months old! Where has the time gone?
Weight/Length- You now weigh 13lbs and 4oz, but barely grew a half inch! You’re 25 1/4″ long, which the doctor said is fine, since you’re still in the 75th percentile for height (and 25th for weight!) I think you’re perfect.
Eating- Still 6oz bottles of formula, but now you get rice cereal or oatmeal in the morning mixed with some sort of fruit or veg, same at night before bed, and some fruit or veg for “lunch”. So far you’ve tried peas (ok), string beans (dislike), carrots (ambivalent), sweet potatoes (like) and apples (love!)
Sleep- Still rocking sleep in the crib – wahoo! You might wake once for a pacifier, but that’s pretty much it. Well except for last weekend, apparently you thought 3am was wake up time and you and Daddy had a middle-of-the-night party. Fun for him! (Not so much.)
Clothes- You’re still hanging onto those three month clothes little one! There are some 3-6 month clothing you fit in, but I can’t go much bigger, things swim on you! Little peanut
Personality- You are SO GOOD. You now screech when you’re excited, which is currently still cute and not ear-piercing. Even if you don’t care for a certain food, you’ll still open your mouth to eat it (I know that’ll change soon enough!) You are always smiling, laughing or screeching. Some people think you’re a serious baby, but you’re just taking it all in – you love to study your surroundings, and everyone comments on how good you are with new people. You could care less!
You also recently evolved into Daddy’s girl, which I LOVE. You’re all about him, and it just makes me smile every time. I know this’ll change a lot too, but for right now, it’s great.
Likes/Dislikes- You still love your Jumperoo, and also your playmat with the hanging toys. Your new favorite thing is being bounced, or us doing the fake throw with you, and your grin is HUGE during those activities. You also seem to like puking on me, but let’s try to stop that one, shall we? You’ve recently discovered that you can scoot backwards and got MAJOR pleasure out of that. Dislikes? Being left alone. You always want someone there with you! You also dislike having your nose or face wiped. As a 29 year old who still hates blowing her nose, I don’t blame you! You still love your feet, and your hands are constantly in your mouth – not teething yet though!
You began sitting up this month, by doing the tri-pod pose, or having my or Daddy’s arms right around you in case you face plant. (We have wood floors. Not a good idea.)
I’m torn between wanting to keep you at this stage forever, and not being able to wait to see how you change in the upcoming months. And while I loved you from the start, it seems that now I am overwhelmed with love for you!
