Baby Bean Update! And her name :)

How far along are you?: 28 weeks – aka 7 months aka HOLY CRAP I’M OFFICIALLY IN THE 3rd TRIMESTER!!!!

28 weeks

Baby Bean - 28 weeks!

Before I get into the pregnancy nitty gritty, I figured it was time to share Baby Bean’s name with the masses. Are you ready? Come May, little Sadie Faye will be joining our family. 🙂 She’s named after both of my grandmothers (using their first initials). Don’t know about your family, but in mine (and what I thought was Jewish tradition but maybe I’m wrong on that one?) you name babies after the family members who have passed away, using their first initial. For example, I’m Lacey Danielle, named after my great-grandmother Lillian and great-aunt Dorothy. Sadie will be after my grandmothers Shirley and Florence. We LOVE her name. Well that’s kind of obvious, isn’t it? We wouldn’t name her something we didn’t love!  Anywho, moving on…

Total weight gain: I’ll find out next week at my doctor’s appointment, but I assume between 15-20 pounds total.

How big is baby?: She is the size of a head of a rutabaga! That makes me laugh – because really? A rutabaga? This means she’s approximately 1.5 to 2.5 pounds and measures about 13.6 to 14.8 inches.

Maternity clothes: Maternity tanks are my favorite!!  I need them for the length.  Also maternity leggings.  Basically I live in maternity clothes from Old Navy.  Cheap!!

Stretch marks?: Nothing on my stomach, but I don’t even want to talk about my chest.

Sleep: Still has been pretty good, although I’ve been waking up on my back more recently.  Don’t know why that’s changed all of a sudden.  Weird.  And getting up about once or twice a night for a bathroom run.

Best moment this week: Getting my baby shower sorted out with my mom – invites go out next week!!  We picked this invitation style from Etsy:

Movement: There’s definitely a baby dance party going on in there.  She’s constantly on the move!  I love it.

Food cravings: There’s a newly opened Panera by my office now – “You Pick Two’s” for everyone!!  And I’ve been hitting them up for breakfast for their yummy chocolate chip bagels.  Mmmm.

Food aversions: Nothing new or exciting.  Guess I’m pretty lucky with that!

Labor signs: Nope!!

Belly button in or out: Ughh it’s barely there, but not an outie!

What I miss: BEER.  Superbowl was SO HARD without beer.  I want a beer.  BEEEEEEEEEER.

What I’m looking forward to: My next sonogram in a few weeks!!  I love seeing her!

Milestone: Ummm… revealing her name to the public?  It’s been a slow two weeks I guess.  🙂

Other random thoughts: I think I may be starting to waddle when I walk.  SADS.  We work on the 2nd floor, and my boss and I were going out to talk and he purposely took the elevator, thinking I shouldn’t walk down the stairs.  I AM NOT AN INVALID!!  Although it was a cute thought.  I really need a haul ass over to Pea in the Pod and get bras that fit.  I wore a cute outfit today and got complimented on it, which was funny because I definitely could not comfortably button this jacket, haha:

  1. I love her name. It just strikes me as so “you guys”. (and no, I can’t explain that, it just does.) She’ll fit in perfectly!

  2. Nice to sort-of meet you Sadie! I love the tradition of picking names that start with initials of family members.

  3. You really do look super cute! Great name! I went to college with a Sadie and I always thought it was a cute.

  4. Love this name!

  5. You look great and I love her name!

I didn’t get stretch marks on my belly until around 30 weeks. I hope you are able to avoid them. I’m destined for 1 piece bathing suits forever because no one wants to see that lol

  6. What a cute name!

I LOVE Panera. My favorite soup is the chicken with wild rice (closely followed by their french onion) paired with the chicken panini (not sure of the name). YUM. I wish I had one around my work (although I would probably spend way too much money there!).

    You look fantastic!

  7. Awesome name; so sweet and adorable! Love that naming tradition that you have in your family as well.

  8. I simply adore the baby’s name! And the story behind it is touching, too.

  9. LOVE the name! And you look fabulous. Happy third trimester!

  10. I love her name so, so, so, so much.

  11. Thanks everyone for all the baby name love!! Not that I think you’d tell me you hated it, but ya know. Still thankful! 🙂

  12. LOVE LOVE LOVE the name!! I

  13. You look great and I love her name. What a sweet family tradition 🙂 A word about buying a bra, if I may… I bought some nursing bras that were one size bigger than what I used to wear, thinking they’d work. Um, nope! They lasted me fine till Joe was born, but then were definitely too small and I ended up having to buy bras that were 2 cup sizes larger than pre-baby. Crazy! I’m not even sure if you’re planning to nurse Sadie, so if not, then just ignore me, ha ha!

    • That’s EXACTLY what I’m afraid of! I definitely need new ones now, because my current ones are NOT cutting it. But I know I’m just going to need bigger later. Sigh.

  14. aw yay what an adorable name! and seriously you are such a cute little pregnant lady, i lurve it.

  15. It’s SO weird that I saw your name today, I just met a little Sadie last week and added it to my hypothetical child’s name list. Who knows if it will ever happen, but it’s good to be prepared.

Needless to say, I love love the name Sadie!

  16. You look gorgeous! I cannot believe it’s third trimester time! Didn’t I just see you like a month ago and you were still in the first? And I love her name, perfect name to add to the family 🙂

  17. That’s what I was taught too, and it’s how I was named as well. I was named after my grandfather Seymour. And if I was a boy I would have been Seth. And I like the name Sadie, of course that’s what my niece is named so I may be a little biased there.

  18. Of COURSE your shower invites have a ducky on them! And you couldn’t possibly know this, but SADIE IS MY FAVORITE NAME!` I’m so excited that you’re naming your little girl this. Seriously, I LOVE the name, but because my name is Sara Kathryn & I go by Kate/Katy, I always thought naming my own baby Sadie would sound egotistical, like a combo of my names. Haha. Anyway – wonnnnderful choice. SEE YOU IN MARCH!
