Street Food Friday: CRISP on Wheels

Welcome to this week’s edition of Street Food Friday!! I usually seek out specific trucks to write about for my turn in this series, but I stumbled upon the CRISP on Wheels truck by accident, and couldn’t be happier that I did. (And I almost wrote CRIPS there… whoops!  Wouldn’t want to go to the CRIPS truck, that’s for sure.)  The CRISP truck actually has a few store fronts, and they sell delicious falafel! This day the truck was on 6th Avenue and 26th Street, but I don’t think they’ve been back to the street since. I think it’s a hard area for food trucks to park on.

Mmmm falafel

The guys working the CRISP truck were probably some of the nicest people I’ve met in my food truck adventures. Not that everyone wasn’t nice, but they were SUPER nice.  Their menu has a ton of different options to choose from, but being a person who can never turn down corn, or cilantro – I went for the Mexican!

Check out that falafel-y goodness!

Oh. Man.

When I finally bit into the mouth-watering falafel, my first thought was – Holy Jalapeno Batman! OMG my mouth was on FIRE!  We don’t need no water let the mothaf’er burn!!!  It was HOT.  But then I put the cilantro sauce on top of it all, and tried again.  🙂  Much, much better.  (Did I say before how much I love cilantro?)

It took me awhile to actually get down to the falafel portion of it all.  I wish it was a little more combined together.  Does that make sense?  Like, all the toppings were floating around on the top, and then the falafel was separate at the bottom.  Once you get down there, its a delight.  Quite possibly the best falafels I’ve ever had.

I needed more of the sauce.  MORE CILANTRO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also CRISP on Wheels has two amazing things – at the time of my visit, they were just about to get credit card processing on the truck! I can’t tell you how amazing this is.  And they also have the BEST packaging I’ve seen.  EVER.  Check out the little video I made of me opening my falafel “purse”.  (Please note I was holding my camera in one hand, and trying to open the box with the other, so it takes a little bit longer than it probably should.)  🙂

  1. We’ve got something called Japadogs! It’s seriously delicious. It’s Japanese inspired hotdogs.

  2. I love a good food truck; in fact, I just wrote a post about our local food trucks. Although, we don’t have a falafel truck. I could really get on board with that!

  3. I love the video, and that looks SO GOOD!

  4. I WANT TO GO TO THERE. But why don’t they put french fries in the pita, Israeli-style?

  5. That looks DELICIOUS.

  6. need to look for this while I’m here!

  7. I so wish that there were food trucks near me. In my old hometown, STL, there is all sorts of controversy about the taxes and the health of them and ahhh, i just want more food trucks near me! Also, love the pictures + video 🙂

  8. Um this looks awesome! We have to hunt some down while I’m in NY in November! Please!

  9. love Crisp!!!

think i tried the African falafel at their shop on 40th st. not sure what they put in it, but it was da bombbbb.

your video is awesome btw. 🙂

  10. Ha its so funny we had Baja Fresh tonight – and ok not awesome yummy truck food BUT there was cilantro. If I could I would give you all the cilantro in the world because its the one thing I do not like LOL. Sometimes I have no choice because they mix it in the salsa or guacamole -_- but I can’t seem to develop a liking for it. Truck food is always good though… I am hoping I run into the CupCakeStop truck in the city when I am there on Sunday. 🙂
