Our Anniversary – in bullet points

Thanks for all the super sweet comments on our 1st anniversary.  I can’t believe it’s been a year either! It’s crazy how a lot of you have known me, through my blog, since before Dave and I were engaged.  Time flies.  🙂   And in order to prevent boring you with a long winded recap post, here is how we spent our anniversary, in bullet points.

  • My BFF Allison and her [insert boy/manfriend title here] took us out to dinner on Friday night.  We took a trip out to City Island and had dinner at the Black Whale (getting to use a Groupon I had!)
  • Allison also, because she is awesome, gave us two amazing presents.  The first was actually our wedding present.  She had purchased the glass we smashed during our ceremony, and had it made into a gorgeous mezuzah, that we promptly hung on our wall. (We would have hung it in a doorway like you’re supposed to, but it’s far too pretty and we didn’t want it to be hidden.

Crappy picture, but it's gorgeous!

  • She also got us this really cool gift for our anniversary – it’s a Salt Covenant.  To sum it up from the website, “During ancient times, agreements and promises were sealed by a salt covenant. Each person would take a pinch of salt from their pouch and place it in the pouch of the other. This agreement could not be broken unless an individual could retrieve their own grains of salt. But this, of course, is impossible.” I love the message behind it!  And it’s sitting in our kitchen now, with it’s cute little spoon.
  • On the actual anniversary date, we decided to reenact our engagement day.  🙂  We walked across the Brooklyn Bridge, and then had brunch at The River Cafe.
  • The staff at the River Cafe was so nice, we had told them it was our anniversary, and at the end of the meal we had a cute little dessert waiting for us.

There was a little candle in front of the chocolate sign, but I took it out for the picture

  • I had the most AMAZING poached lobster (in butter!) at brunch.  AMAZING.  Dave also enjoyed his duck steak with duck sausage and then some more duck.  (There was a lot of duck.)
  • Although we eventually came home and did errands (and bought a king size mattress WOO!) we had a great day.  I love just being out, the two of us.  We don’t get to do it enough.
  • As for gifts, Dave outdid himself.  I was the recipient of a gorgeous necklace, that connects in the front with a cluster of multi-sized circles, and a Coach watch!  I was in dire need of a new watch, as my beloved Kenneth Cole that I’ve had since I was 21 bit the dust.  🙁  He really did well, that husband of mine.  And Dave got… nothing!!!  Haha.  The gift he wants doesn’t come out until April, so he has to wait until then.
  • And if it wasn’t enough, my friend Julie got engaged!!  I was so happy when I heard the news, and am thrilled for Julie and her fiance Mike.  They got engaged on a great day!  😉

So that was our first wedding anniversary. Here’s hoping that all the rest are just as great!
