Happy Halloween!! A Costume Progression

Happy Halloween!!! I was so excited to dress up this year – last year Dave and I didn’t really have any plans, so although we dressed up for a party he was throwing, there are no pictures. ๐Ÿ™ We were Caffeine Pill Jessie Spano and Zack Morris – best props EVER.

This year, Dave was working, but Arielle and I were going to our friend’s party and had the best costumes EVER.

If you don’t get it/understand – we’re from Legends of the Hidden Temple, only one of the best game shows ever to grace Nickelodeon. (Side note – what happened to them having game shows on Nick? They should bring those back.) Some people would see us and yell something about Double Dare or GUTS, but the smart people who recognized our costume gave us mad props. I mean, we even had the name tags (which I had to make b/c the company we ordered the shirts/helmets from forgot to include them) and Arielle made our sweet Pendants of Life. It was AWESOME.

Anywho, I got to thinking about Halloween’s past, and realized, that with age, my costumes have gotten less and less slutty. I guess that’s a good thing, but it also means my body definitely isn’t what it used to be in my early twenties. ๐Ÿ™ Oh well. Below is a sampling of the slutty outfits I called “costumes”.

2004 – senior year of college. I randomly put this “Construction Worker” costume together last minute – I love the ripped wife beater and black bra. Class it up Lacey!! (And check out my stomach… sigh.)

2006 – Hooters Girl. This was an official uniform, I got it on eBay and was super excited about it. Then again I was also 23, and still looked hot.

2007 – Beer Maiden! Or Beer Wench, whichever you choose. Still a wee bit slutty, but more covered up than before. Went great with Dave’s Beer Keg costume

2008 – Spongebob Squarepants!!! Yes, still a bit on the sluttish side of things, but it was SO CUTE I loved it. If I got back into shape, I’d so rock it again.

Last year’s costume consisted of leggings and a sweatshirt w/ the neck cut out, so definitely nothing revealing there.

And now this year – a t-shirt and shorts. (Awesome, don’t get me wrong, but a far departure from what I used to rock.

Now granted, even if I was in super amazing shape, I probably wouldn’t go around wearing a blue bra w/ cupcakes strapped to the front like one girl we saw as Katy Perry. (That’s a bit much for me.) But I probably would slut it up a bit more, just for old times sake. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Have your costumes gotten more conservative over the years?

EDIT **BTW – I just realized that this is my 666th post.  CREEPY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  1. I LOVE YOUR COSTUME! That's a brilliant idea. Props to you!

  2. Suburban Sweetheart says

Loooove the Blue Barracudas costume! I've never been anything slutty, save the one year I was a pirate, though I thrifted pirate costumes for, like, 15 of us that year, so I gave myself a pass. I was a plain old witch this year & was really bummed about it, but then our plans fell through & no one we were with dressed up, so I was glad I hadn't wasted a good costume!

  3. I loved Nick game shows too; they have a few but none as cool as when we were younger (which makes me feel old just to type that!)

I've been the same thing the last few years since it was an actual costume that I bought and wasn't cheap but in college I went as a cowgirl, slutty Dorothy from Wizard of Oz and then no idea what I was after that.

All of your costumes are fabulous! And I think you could rock any of those costumes now!

  4. Jessica (Bayjb) says

You guys look great! I have to admit, I don't know the show you're talking about, but I love how you pulled this together!

  5. I LOVE LOVE LOVE your costume. I showed it to my husband and told him that was what I wanted to do next year.

  6. Blue Barracudas FTW!!

  7. The MAdien Metallurgist says

I rocked the same costume for four years- and now I sit at home on the couch. I just was not up for it this year.

Oh. My. Gosh. I just died. Legends of the Hidden Temple was the best show of my life! You guys did an amazing job with the costumes!

Was I the only one that thought the kids were super slow and that I could do so much better in the temple run? LAME. I could've won myself a nintendo or some hushpuppies, man.
