Bart Simpson Said it Right…

Halloween is coming up fast!! And although Dave and I don’t have any Halloween plans as of right now, I am still gearing up for the holiday in different ways! I took part of my day off on Friday and decorated the entrance to our humble abode.

I can’t wait until we have a house of our own so I can go crazy with the decorations!

Halloween coming up also means – CANDY!!! We get a decent amount of Trick-or-Treaters in our neighborhood, so buying bags of bite sized candy is a MUST. And we always make sure to buy candy that we like – you know, just in case of any leftovers. πŸ˜‰ I usually go for the Willy Wonka bags of Sweet Tarts, NERDS and Laffy Taffy, Take 5 Bars, or Junior Mints (for Dave). This year though, we’ve got something different in our candy bowl!

Crispity and Crunchity!

I first got to taste these delicious little chocolate wonders at BlogHer ’10. I took quite a few of the sample baggies they were handing out – I was addicted!!! These chocolates are smooth, sweet, a little sinful, and bite sized, which in my opinion, makes everything better!  I also loved the Butterfinger Snackerz because there’s no mess!! The regular Butterfinger bar gets a little melty, and also messy when you’re eating it.  And the pouches they come in are so much better, no more having a broken candy bar!! (Cause to me, it ruins the bar when it’s broken!)  The Snackerz are also perfect because there’s no mess!!  And it’s a great candy to hand out for Halloween, cause who doesn’t want to have the hot, new candy to hand out to the kids?

So, just in time for Halloween, you can win either four fun size bags of product (16 pouches inside) or 2 boxes of full size pouches (24 pouches inside) based on availability. And even if you don’t have a lot of Trick-or-Treaters in your neighborhood, enter anyway! You want these chocolates.

To enter – tell me what your best, OR worst Halloween costume was! Your choice! Did you rock a hot group costume in college with your friends? Did your mom dress you like a sad clown when you were 4? Did you dress like a leprechaun one year cause you had green leggings, a green t-shirt and a vest? (Ahem me ahem.) Share it! Share it for the chocolates!!! (I can’t wait for my own supply to come in the mail!)

*Contest will end on Wednesday, October 20 at 11:59pm EST. And sorry – U.S. residents only.

**Disclosure: I received samples of Butterfinger Snackerz pouches at BlogHer ’10. I was not compensated in any other way for this post. The opinions are mine, ALL MINE!

  1. One of my worst costumes was in college. My best friend (who is barely over 5') and me (who is 5'9") decided to go as the Jolly Green Giant and Sprout. We wore all green then put together a head piece of fake leaves and then glued/taped leaves to our shirts. Yeah….

  2. My best costume was when I dressed up as my best friend for HIS Halloween B-day party. I looked JUST like him, down to the bald head and tuft of chin hair! We looked like twins standing next to each other, I scored a major win. WORST costume, would definitely when my mom dressed me in YELLOW feetie pajamas, stuck a duck bill on my face and voila, a duck….worst costume EVER!

  3. I am commenting but not entering in the contest because I need a bag of chocolates like I need a punch in the face. I liked my Superwoman costume from college. And The Little Mermaid, obvi. And Hannah Montana. Bwa ha ha. I guess being a sexy Santa Claus (twice) was a cop out. I love Halloween. That is all.

  4. My best costume was also my worst. I was COUSIN IT. Oh, yes. From The Adams Family. I was in 1st grade and everyone thought I was a rug with a hat.

    Ha. πŸ™‚

  5. The Doctor says:

I once dressed up as half-man, half-woman. I was 8 and created the costume completely by myself. I buttoned two shirts to each other, a blouse and a man's shirt. I tucked a skirt inside a pair of pants. I put half my hair up in a pigtail, and the other half greased back like a man's style. Then put make-up on half my face, and a fake mustache on the other — and two different shoes! I was so proud of myself for that costume, although it wasn't as cool as anyone's store bought Wonder Woman or Batman costume — it was completely original, though, and I did it completely by myself!

when i was in 3rd grade i desperately wanted to be something cool (i.e. catwoman) or beautiful (i.e. a princess). what costume did my mom craft for me (and my little sis)? huckleberry finn. yup, that's right. we had straw hats, fishing poles, overalls and blacked out teeth. neither cool nor beautiful…

    happy halloween!

  7. oh i've had some good (aka bad) ones…

..the year I was a FLOWER GARDEN (green sweatsuit with foam flowers and my mom made me a giant flower mask hahaha)…

    …and the time i was a bday gift…

    …a spice girl…

….david beckham (and my hubs was victoria)…

…sandy and danny from grease (I was the girl this time πŸ˜‰ and it was AWESOME!)

last year we were "eskimo pie" and i dressed like an eskimo while ryan wore a shirt that said 3.14. people didn't really get it though…

    i like costumes πŸ™‚

  8. my mom has a habit of trying to make me replica disney princess costumes and failing grandly.
i had a belle costume made out of light yellow curtains and elastic bands.
and then a few years later i had a jasmine costume that consisted of a tube top, and light green gossamer baggy pants.
(for some reason my mother couldn't grasp that pastels were not accurate)

however, the best of the worst was when i was pocahontas.it was very cold that october and my mother made me wear a tan turtleneck and sweatpants under my burlap-y shapeless one shouldered dress. i think later that day I was required to put a snowsuit on under the dress.
i was not a happy trick or treater.

  9. My best costume was in college with my roommates. We went as the guys from Cool Runnings in full spandex suits with matching Pumas! It was incredible until the egg broke on the dance floor.

  10. best: last year, my bf was a leprechaun and i was a pot of gold! he hand sewed a green leprechaun suit (as in needle and thread, not sewing machine – he is so the domestic one of the relationship) and i wore a gold leotard, bubble skirt, rainbow on my back, and gold coins galore! it was awesome.

worst: cheech and chong with my college roommate. the dark hair alone was hideous on me. not the greatest pics.

  11. My best costume was last year, Jon and I went as Indiana Jones and Short Round from the Temple of Doom movie!

  12. worst costume ever was me as a scarecrow turned farmer in high school. i had overalls, plaid shirt and crappy straw hat. however by the time i caught a look at myself in the mirror, it went from awesome to hell no, no one is gonna see me like this. so i became a farmer without the hat. it was just bad. just very very bad… it wound up being no costume at all in the end.

i dont think i have a best costume. i love halloween, just not me personally dressing up. it never goes well.

I have to say how much I love dressing up for halloween! Last year I was Misty the Pokemon Trainer, that was a big hit with the kids. But the year before that, I was Juno… preggo orange striped belly and all. That costume won an award so I'm pretty proud of it!!

This year? I'm still deciding between Hermione Granger and Sookie Stackhouse from True Blood. We'll see what I come up with. πŸ™‚

  14. ::Sonal:: says:

My best costume was a penguin. My friend had already made the body and we topped it off with a cone beak and scuba flippers. The flippers… were not so easy to trick or treat in, but everyone loved them.

  15. Jenny @ Practically Perfect... says:

I'm not entering the giveaway (really doubt that you'd want to send chocolate to New Zealand when it's warming up over here!), but I just have to say that Halloween is such a huge holiday in the US compared to over here! There were NO Halloween decorations or candy in the stores – they just go straight to Christmas! It's a little disappointing! I love your decorations!

  16. stealthnerd says:

My favorite Halloween costume was junior year of college. I went as "that guy." I wore my boyfriend-at-the-time's jeans with hula-girl boxers sticking out, two polo shirts (white and pink), a John Deere trucker hat, an "I'm with stupid" wristband, white sneakers. The best part of the costume though, was the thong I had hanging out of my back pocket. I went out with some of my other friends who went as one night stands; messed-up eye makeup, "the guy's" shorts with their party tops. It was an awesome set of costumes!!

  17. Jen on the Edge says:

A few years ago, my family teamed up with another one and we all went as Star Wars characters — Princess Leia, Obi Wan, R2D2, Darth Vader, Yoda, etc. I was the Emperor.

My worst costume was the year I dressed as a Republican and everyone just thought I was super preppy.

  18. My best costume ever was dressing as Tinkerbell in junior year of college. Tinkerbell is my Disney character of choice and my friends nicknamed me Tink, so it was a no-brainer and everyone loved it.

But, I also want to share my worst costume, because I dressed as a HORSE in 4th grade. My mom found the costume at a garage sale that include a mane made out of red feathers and glitter and a sad excuse for a tail. We even made horseshoes out of cardboard that I wore around my hands… ugh, it was terrible. Absolutely terrible.

  19. Shoshanah says:

I dressed up as picnic one year! Although I can't really get credit for the idea, since it came from American Girl magazine. I also got the idea from the magazine to dress up as the night sky one year, which was another favorite.

  20. Suburban Sweetheart says:

Your place looks so cute! Bummed I missed out on this delish giveaway, but I'll tell you my best costume anyway: I was "fishing for compliments"! I wore a blue dress & laminated some goldfish pictures that I pinned to myself with little speech bubbles that said things like, "You look great!" & "You're not fat!" I got drunk, eventually, & took the bubbles off & just told people I was an aquarium.
