3.6.5.

Partially because I want to prove to myself that I can do it, and partially because I have these amazing ladies doing it with me, I’ve started Project 365. You know, that one where you commit yourself to taking a picture every day for a year.

Start Date: July 26, 2010
End Date: July 25, 2011

One picture, every day. I am the kind of girl who gets all amp’d up about a project and then invariably dumps it a short time after. The only things I’ve really stuck with over a long period of time have been my blog (almost 3 years!) and Dave. ๐Ÿ™‚ So yes, I want to prove to myself that I can do this. It’s only a picture a day, but I also want to challenge myself. I want to make sure I take a GOOD picture every day. No shots that are at 11:59pm of me in my PJs or something else random just to make sure it’s done. (Well, let’s be honest here, that may happen once… or twice. But I don’t want to make a habit of it.)

I also want to become a better photographer. Scratch that, I want to BECOME a photographer. (Not professionally.  Basically I mean I just want to do more than “point and shoot”.)  Right now I am the only one doing the Project (out of the 4 of us) who isn’t using/isn’t comfortable with the manual settings on my camera.  I want that to change by this time next year.

So here begins my journey! Check it out my Project 365 set on Flickr, or through the blog.  Are any of you doing Project 365?  Did you try and fail?  Are you in the midst?  Share!!

  1. oh cool… my brother is doing this as well.. i want to say he started jan 1. You can look at his flickr site here to see http://www.flickr.com/photos/kielszivos/sets/72157623287264882/

he does them all with his iphone.. he's actually got some really good ones on here. But, he is in fact a photographer! ha

  2. I started 365 on June 1st. So far I've stuck to it, but there have been MANY of those "oh crap it's 11:30" moments. And I definitely don't upload my photos often enough! Hopefully by following the journey of you four, I'll be more motivated through my own! Good luck!!

I've definitely thought of doing this… Maybe I'll start it up soon if I can ever remember the login for my Flickr!

  4. I have also thought about doing this. One of our goals is to get a nice camera so I think I'll embark on this project once that happens!

I think it would be really cool to look back at the pictures and really see what you did and what was important to you over the course of a year. I tend to forget the little daily things that happen, so this would really help me to remember!

    Good luck!

Great idea! I'd be terrible at sticking to it though, with all the random things happening this year!

Looking forward to seeing what you come up with ๐Ÿ™‚

  6. Good for you!!!

This would be something I would totally suck at. And get really excited about for like 3 weeks and completely forget. Whoops!

  7. I'm a Project 365 FAILURE. Oh, it breaks my heart. I just stopped. After only a few weeks I don't know why. But it is such a great idea! And it's an excellent way to improve your photography skills! I can't wait to follow your progress in pictures!

  8. I love being a part of this with you! ๐Ÿ™‚ Here's to a year of beauty and learning a little more about how to use these devices of ours.

Yeah! This sounds extremely exciting! That is my new goal in life (after quilting) is to start taking better pictures. However, I need to spend $$$ on a good camera and I rather spend it on fitness equipment now, haha.

I've always thought it would be fun to try a project 365. But as for actually trying it, well I don't think I could pull it off. Wishing you lots of luck and hope you pull it off!

  11. i think it's a great idea. If I can get my 30 before 30 list started & underway and do it well then I'll consider doing a longer project. I'm just so afraid of giving up halfway!

    Sounds fun!! Good luck girl!
