Beaches, more monkeys and hiking to my death

We’re down to the last two days! Woo!!!! On our final full day in Quepos/Monte Verde, we went to Manuel Antonio National Park. This place is HUGE. First we made the mistake of walking there from the hotel since it was only a kilometer, but it was HOT and my backpack was HEAVY and I was NOT happy. 🙁 Once inside though, we trekked through until we found the beach, and it was HEAVEN!

And there were more monkeys!! These guys came RIGHT UP TO YOU, and basically made rounds from tree to tree, charming people for food. (You’re not supposed to feed them, because people might give them diseases but of course people do anyway. I resisted and did not feed them.)

Grabbing food… and now he’s gone!

We left the GORGEOUS beach after awhile, and went for a hike. This hike was ridiculous. Probably like 2 miles (Dave will correct me if I’m wrong on that) and mostly uphill with STAIRS. We saw a bunch of cool animals though, including this GIGANTIC blue-ish lizard, and an animal that we have no idea what it is, but it looks like a hamster/rabbit thing.

Blue lizard, hamster/rabbit thing, and me hiking in a bikini top. Because it was SO HOT and there was no point to put my tank top back on.

We made our way to another beach, where we stopped to relax a little and eat lunch. And it was there that Dave snapped one of my favorite pictures from our trip.

One of my faves
I love the colors!

And then we made our way out of the park, took a bus back the hotel, and proceeded to hang out at the pool for the rest of the day.

Last up – San Jose at night, and how Dave almost got me arrested in the Atlanta airport. 🙂

And that looked like a beautiful place to hike…despite the heat. I wish I could go hiking. LOL!

  4. Love the pictures! I really hope I make it to CR next year, it looks so beautiful 🙂

  5. I love all the animals in the pictures! And if you resisted, that has to be Dave's hand feeding the monkey right?

  6. Non Sequitur Chica says

Great pictures! I seriously need to get down to Costa Rica so that I can hang out with monkeys too!!! 🙂

  7. I loooveee monkeys, and definitely love the pictures of the beach 🙂 I heard so many good things about costa rica, I'm tempted to visit 🙂

  8. Kristen Sara says

I don't know if I could have resisted… I probably would fed them, and then tried to bring one home in my suitcase!

  9. The monkeys are so cute! I held a money on my trip to Morocco in the spring. But it was a money on a leash. Totally not the same. Although he did try to steal my necklace! Wild monkeys would be so fun!
