Well if you’ve gotta be stranded someplace…

…you might as well be stranded in LA. Dave was supposed to leave to go back to NY this afternoon, and all morning we were keeping our fingers crossed that the weather in NY would hold up. Apparently they’re expecting 8-12 inches! And of course, about an hour and a half before he was going to leave, he gets a message that his flight has been cancelled, and that there are absolutely no flights into the NYC area whatsoever until tomorrow.

This. Is. Not. Good.

There’s not much we can do about it though besides being pissed, so we got him an early flight out tomorrow, and he’ll have to miss another day of work, and possibly be docked for 1 day. Poop.

Beyond that, we had a great time at Disney yesterday, although I was slightly underwhelmed by it. I mean, if you’ve been to Disney World, there’s really no reason to go to Disneyland. Plus part of Main Street was closed off, and some of the lines were ridiculous. (Over an hour for Splash Mountain? Hah!) But all in all, we had a good time and enjoyed going on all of the old rides and laughing at everyone who walked around wearing a ridiculous Disney hat of some sort.

Yeah I made him do it.

Oh and then we got back to the hotel, exhausted, only to find out that they had a pipe burst on one of the parking levels, and so all of the elevators were grounded. Our room is on the 14th floor. Needless to say that Dave and I got some great exercise getting up to our room, and luckily it was fixed shortly afterwards, so the pizza delivery guy could get up to our room ok.*

NYC pizza? Yeah, right!

Oh, and I’m going to catch a lot of flack for this, but In-N-Out Burger? Did not live up to the hype for me. Don’t know if it’s cause I didn’t like the Russian Dressing sauce they have on there, or the fact that the burger patties are thinner than the tomato slices, but it was ehhh.

I’ll go back to relaxing in my room w/ the complimentary glass of wine that we snagged from wine hour now. πŸ™‚

*While we were down at wine hour tonight, someone who I assume is one of the managers of the hotel asked if we were around last night for the broken pipe situation, and when we said yes, we walked up 14 flights of stairs but it was fine, he let us know that he was going to take that night off of our stay for us. That it what I call great customer service. Even though we blatantly stated we weren’t super inconvenienced, the hotel still wanted to take care of us.

Comments

  1. My fiance and I are going to Disneyworld for our honeymoon, and I totally bought us the bride and groom ears already!

  2. I am a vegetarian so I have no clue if the burgers are actually good. Everyone raves about the secret sauce.

I will say that Lamonica’s is my favorite pizza place. Not exactly sure why they called it NY style though.

  3. Awww Disney!!!

You guys should TOTALLY use that picture at your wedding where all the guests sign in. I love it!! πŸ™‚

  4. insomniaclolita says

I would love to be stranded in LA myself πŸ˜›

  5. I have a Disneyland season pass and go every possible chance I get. I LOVE it and love the silly hats πŸ™‚ Glad you are having a good time in LA!

  6. Best place to be stranded. Boston is covered with tons of snow right now – it’s like spring is never going to come. Glad you’ve had a good trip!

  7. i think nyc closed today lacey, so you don’t have to worry about him getting docked a day! πŸ™‚

  8. poor guy…

I cant believe you made him wear the ears.

  9. Love the ears!
I live in CA and I’m not a fan of In-and-Out. I eat all my hamburgers (for the most part) “dry bun” and the In-and-Out’s hamburgers/cheesebrgers just don’t work with that. And the fries are kinda bland. πŸ™‚

(Oh, and nice customer service at your hotel!)

  10. Classy in Philadelphia says

I have never been, but I want to go so bad.

I love Disney World, so I can imagine that Disney Land would be quite underwhelming.

I love the picture with the bride and groom ears!

Hope you’re enjoying the warmer weather…it’s gross over here on the east coast.

  11. Take that back!!! Disneyland is awesome!!! The Matterhorn is awesome and they don’t have the Matterhorn at DW. πŸ˜›

  12. AndrΓ©a says

that is seriously good customer service! glad you had a good time. adn the ears… I think you should wear them for the wedding πŸ™‚ A built in train πŸ™‚ Hee hee.

  13. Non Sequitur Chica says

Yeah I felt the same way about In-n-Out. I think that it has just been built up too much.

The snow here in MA has been coming down since last night. At least I had a snow day today.

  14. Two LA tips:

If you go to a Disney park in CA, you should just go to California Adventure. It’s way better than Disneyland!

And I was disappointed by In-N-Out at first, but in like 5 days, you get a weird, super intense craving for it, and when you satisfy that craving, it’s the greatest burger ever. It’s weird and unexplainable. πŸ™‚

  15. distractedspunk says

Yay! Someone else who’s not really crazy about In-n-out. I get flack for that alll the time.

Also. I don’t know how, but my flight managed to come back to JFK in the middle of this frigging snowstorm. Jeez.

I would have freaked if I had to stay in Las Vegas another night without a laptop or some form of entertainment.

  16. Love the picture and I’m super jealous you’re in Cali now!

  17. Jacqueline says

I loved Disney as a child. Part of me wants to go back but I know it won’t be the same now that I’m older.

The caption under the pizza picture made me laugh! We New Yorkers know our pizza πŸ™‚

  18. I went to Disney World (for the first time ever!) in October and saw soooo many couples walking around with the bride and groom Mickey ears. Apparently it’s a hot honeymoon spot.

  19. surviving myself says

Poor guy. I hope you delete that picture one day, for his sake.

  20. Anonymous says

Your footnote was so interesting about customer service. What hotel did you stay at where you got comped?

  21. Sandcastle Dreams says

How can you not like In and Out?! THough the trick is to order the secret stuff that’s not on the menu πŸ™‚
