Heat in the kitchen (but no fires today!)

Dave was away all day watching the Nascar races in Dover with his old roommate, leaving me to my own devices in the apartment. Besides catching up on some work, and watching an ANTM marathon on MTV (the Joanie/Danielle cycle… woot!), I put myself to work in the kitchen! The fruits of my labor?

Fool Proof Chocolate Fudge, from Very Best Baking, and Brown Sugar Chocolate Chip Cookies, from Baking Blonde. As you’ve read before, I love Baking Blonde’s recipes, and when she posted these cookies today, I knew I had to make them!

The cookies were extremely easy, although mine didn’t turn out as flat as Baking Blonde’s did in her pictures. Regardless, they still taste yummy!! And the fudge was also really easy, as it’s a no-bake dessert. I think next time I would make twice the portion though, because you don’t get much from a 9″ loaf pan. Question is, do I make 2 separate batches, or one mondo batch yielding huge ass fudge?

All I know is that my coworkers are sure going to like me tomorrow. :)

I love fudge but have never made it alone. Usually my mom and I make some for the holidays. This year I may have to try it on my own!!
