A room full of men, and I didn’t get hit on.

Oh wait, that’s what happens when you go to a charity event called Broadway Beauty Pageant, and the 5 contestants are all gay chorus boys from Broadway shows. Arielle can attest – 95% men in the audience – I’d say 93% of them were gay. And it was amazing.

There were three rounds – talent, interview and swimsuit. OH YES – swimsuit. I was torn between Mr. Hairspray and Mr. Xanadu. Mr. Hairspray was super cute, and did a talent portion where he did super cool tricks with a lasso. (Learned courtesy of a stint in Oklahoma!, as he told the judges.) He also wore super, SUPER tight jeans, so that helped sway my vote *just* a little.

Mr. Xanadu won me over in the end when he did a superb version of Tina Turner’s “Proud Mary”, substituting the name Mary for his name, Marty. This white boy can do Tina proud!! He did the ENTIRE song, and then brought out two back up dancers in Tina outfits (short, SHORT dresses with fringe) to rock it out. It was PHENOMENAL.

The interviews were basically for laughs, and the bathing suit portion was hysterical only because of the little, tiny briefs that most of them came out in, and the full scuba suit that Mr. Curtains came out in.

The audience got to vote, and Mr. Xanadu won! I was happy, because he was soooo cute and I want him to be my NGBF (new gay best friend.)

Oh! And Anthony Rapp (Mark) from RENT was the host!! I saw him in the lobby before the show started, and did a double take and then almost peed myself with excitement. I had a camera with me, but didn’t want to be that tool asking for a picture, but in retrospect, I really should have, cause it’s Anthony Rapp!! Too bad Adam Pascal (Roger) wasn’t there… cause I would have possibly molested him.

  1. Working Girl Two says

omg! this sounds like one of the most fun nights ever! how does one get invited to this? because i simply have to be in attendence next year!

  2. Sounds like so much fun!

I actually had the pleasure of meeting with and singing for Anthony Rapp during my sophomore year in college. They brought him in for a weekend and he did a musical theatre workshop on one of the days. He said my voice was very rich. And it was amazing.

Of course I’m a tool b/c I didn’t even think about getting him to sign my RENT cd until weeks later. I’m still cursing myself for that one!

  3. Wow, fun! Tight jeans like tighter than Danny Noriega’s jeans? Because those jeans were TIGHT.

  4. That event sounds hilarious and like a lot of fun!

  5. Katelin says

Haha that event sounds awesome, love it.

  6. How exciting! Oh, and Anthony Rapp? I would have completely lost it, that’s how excited I would have been.
